For centuries, people have turned to astrology to forecast earthly events by interpreting the positions of the sun, stars and planets. Once considered a science, astrology’s scientific basis was later considered untenable, and the practice is now distinct from its close relative, astronomy.

Among many horoscopes, the tropical Zodiac comprising Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces is well known. Featured in this stamp issue are four of them – Leo, Virgo, Libra and Scorpio.
